RISE AGAINST HUNGER

RISE AGAINST HUNGER is growing a global movement to end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives and responding to emergencies. High School youth will participate with the #ItStartsWithaMeal packing project we will be joining hands to lend a hand to make shelf-stable, high-nutrition meals. They may look like simple bags of rice and soy, but Rise Against Hunger meals make a real difference for the 720+ million people who experience hunger on a daily basis.  Meals will be assembled, boxed, and then sent off to locations targeted by the Global Hunger Index as in “serious” or higher need. Meals are distributed to children and young people in schools, provided to local communities with a lack of access to food, and are deployed for emergencies in protracted crises and sudden onset disasters.

CROSS CATHOLIC “BOX OF JOY”(MISSION ROSARY)

Box of Joy provides schools, parishes, organizations, and families with an inspiring opportunity to send gifts to The Dominican Republic, Guatemala and other developing countries.

A Box of Joy is a Christmas shoebox that is donated and packed with toys, clothing, school supplies and other treasured items by U.S. parishes, schools and groups. Each child who receives a Box of Joy also receives a rosary and a booklet in their own language that tells The Story of Jesus. Box of Joy provides hope to children in need, each gift represents Christ’s love, and may be the only Christmas gift they receive.

At New York Catholic Youth Day, our middle school youth will be a part of making the rosaries that will go in the boxes which will be delivered to children in developing countries.
