Forum on the Catechumenate

Winter / Spring 2022

Dear Friends,

We are so grateful to everyone who participated in the 2021 Forum on the Catechumenate for Christian Initiation Ministers, held at the New York Catholic Center/Cathedral High School in Manhattan on Saturday, December 4th.  We are thankful for the collaboration between the Archdiocesan Offices of Adult Faith Formation, Youth Faith Formation and Liturgy. We are especially grateful to the ongoing support from Liturgy Training Publications (LTP) who presented the day.  We thank our three speakers for the day; author, pastoral associate and director of religious education, Ms. Rita Burns Senseman; pastoral associate, consultant and presenter, Sr. Sandra Demasi, SSJ and LTP events trainer, manager and author, Mr. Michael Ruzicki. We know that all benefitted from their wisdom and experience.

At the 2021 Catechumenate Forum, participants learned more about the children’s catechumenate. They deepened their understanding of the Church’s vision of the baptismal catechumenate as outlined in Part 2, chapter 1 of the RCIA ritual text. They were challenged to consider the many ways in which the catechumenate process can be very effective in preparing children of catechetical age along with their families for full Christian initiation.

And finally, don’t forget to SAVE THE DATE, for next year’s Forum on the Catechumenate, scheduled for Saturday, November 5, 2022.

Location and topic to be determined.
