February 12, 2024 – The Good NewsroomTM, the digital newsroom of the Archdiocese of New York has started accepting donations to coincide with the start of Lent, the Catholic season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. The newsroom seeks funds to support its news production and digital publishing efforts.
Like all aspects of the Church, The Good Newsroom carries out its work, in part, based on donations from those who want to contribute to the mission. Executive editor, Rachel Sheehan, wrote, “We are working in a very lean manner, but we have expenses such as rent, subscription content, equipment, general technology infrastructure, staff salaries, and other costs that are directly associated with our work.”
Lent is an ideal time to revisit the goals of The Good Newsroom:
- To bring people closer to the Catholic faith
- To strengthen the Catholic community in New York
- To shine a light on the good works of the Church
- To create a welcoming place for the diverse audiences we serve
The newsroom launched in November of 2022, publishing news solely through digital channels. The entity introduced video storytelling and a quick publishing model that has been very well received. Learn more at www.theGoodNewsroom.org.
