ARCHDIOCESE OF MILWAUKEE TO RELEASE CARDINAL DOLAN'S DEPOSITION

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee announced today (http://www.archmil.org/Our-Faith/Blogs/Archbishop-Listecki/JEL-20130403B.htm) that it will be releasing thousands of pages of documents that contain information and details about clergy sexual abuse in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.  The documents are expected to be posted to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee website by July 1, 2013.  Among the documents to be released is the deposition given by Timothy Cardinal Dolan this past February, in connection with the Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.  Cardinal Dolan issued the following statement today in reaction to this news.

"I am pleased with the decision of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to release more documents in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding, including my February, 2013 deposition.

As I stated at the time of the deposition, I was grateful for the opportunity to go on-the-record with a full account of how the Archdiocese of Milwaukee responded to abuse survivors, and to answer any questions that I could. I stand ready to assist in any way that I can in the future.   It is my hope that the release of these documents will also help in the healing process for abuse survivors, as well as their families and loved ones.
