A blessed Thursday to you. Today, for the last day of Black History Month, we have a piece from the New York Times about Venerable Pierre Toussaint, the only lay man buried in St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Here is an excerpt:

Throughout his life, he was dedicated to the church and to others — donating to charities, helping to finance the original St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan and risking his life during epidemics to tend to the ill.
