All are welcome to experience this unique form of solemn high Mass according to ‘Divine Worship’: the missal used by the Personal Ordinariates. The ‘Divine Worship’ Missal is a form of Mass fully authorized by Rome, which brings the best of the Anglican tradition of worship in the English language from the Book of Common Prayer, as well as the Anglo-Catholic ceremonial tradition of the English Missal, into the full communion of the Catholic Church. This Mass will celebrate the Blessed Virgin Mary under her title of “Our Lady of Walsingham”, one of the major devotions of the Catholic Church in England before the Reformation. This devotion began from an apparition to Richeldis de Faverches in 1061. Richeldis built a “Holy House” in the village of Walsingham, which eventually grew to be a major pilgrimage site renowned throughout medieval Christendom. This shrine was destroyed in 1538, but devotion to Our Lady of Walsingham saw a resurgence in the early 20th century among both Catholics and high-church Anglicans. The Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter’s cathedral church in Houston, Texas is dedicated to Our Lady of Walsingham.
