September 17, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Mustang will be the premier film in the 2021-2022 International Film Festival sponsored by Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers. It will be shown on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 7:30 pm ET at Maryknoll’s Society Center located at 55 Ryder Road in Ossining, as well as via webinar (Registration required for either at: www.MaryknollSociety.org/Film-Festival). Everyone is welcome, and admission is free.
Mustang is a 2015 film directed by Deniz Gamze Erguven which takes place in a village in northern Turkey. The story centers around five sisters who share a common passion for freedom and find ways of getting around the constraints imposed on them.
Father Larry Lewis, M.M. who co-hosts the program with Brother John Blazo, M.M. stated, “We at Maryknoll are very happy to resume our monthly film festival.” He continued, “For 13 years, we’ve enjoyed sharing not only these films, but also our discussion through the lens of our faith. Coming through the pandemic, we’ve chosen the theme, “Kindness – the Fruit of Love and Sacrifice” for this series.”
The film festival provides nine monthly offerings on the third Friday of each month from September through May. The series includes an introduction by a Maryknoll missioner and a brief discussion after the screening.
