In 2018, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception falls on a Saturday and is a Holy Day of Obligation. Evening Masses on this day, however, should celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent. The USCCB’s Secretariat of Divine Worship has stated that, in such cases, most canon lawyers maintain that each day of obligation must be fulfilled with a separate Mass.
