  • 43rd ANNUAL PAX CHRISTI METRO NEW YORK Way of the Cross The Way to Peace

43rd ANNUAL PAX CHRISTI METRO NEW YORK Way of the Cross The Way to Peace

Join several hundred people in one of the largest public Christian peace witnesses in New York City. In this our forty-third year Pax Christi Metro New York will commemorate Good Friday as a modern-day enactment of the Stations of the Cross, praying for peace and justice on the streets of our city. We remember that throughout our life Jesus calls us to active non-violence. This year our theme is “In a time of polarization and conflict, how do we follow the path of Jesus?.”

The Walk will take place in person, from 8:30 am to 12 pm on Good Friday, April 18th, 2025. We begin at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza (47th St. at First Ave.) and proceed along 42nd Street to between Eighth and Ninth Avenues.

PLEASE WEAR OR CARRY A CROSS

The Good Friday Way of the Cross is organized each year by Pax Christi Metro New York, a regional section of Pax Christi, the international Catholic movement for peace. For further information about our work, please visit us at www.nypaxchristi.org

    Holy Week Retreat at Shalom

    Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We warmly invite you to participate in the Holy Week retreat at the Shalom Catholic Community in Williamsburg. This sacred time offers us an opportunity to deepen our faith and embrace the transformative power of God through the death and resurrection of His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

As we approach this profound season, we recall the words of the Apostle Paul: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Holy Week stands as the pinnacle of our faith, marked by the most solemn liturgies and an abundance of grace. The Holy Week retreat is a precious opportunity to immerse ourselves in the most sacred of all mysteries: Christ dies and resurrects to save us, to give us life!

Pope Francis encourages us to approach this time with renewed hope and courage. In his recent message, he urged the faithful “to instill hope and strive for courage to improve the world,” emphasizing that even in uncertain times, love and hope enable a positive outlook for the future.

Let us come together to experience the fullness of Christ’s love and the hope that does not disappoint. Please review the retreat schedule and join us in embracing every moment of this holy season.
