  • “Take Courage: Let’s Light Up Our City!” Welcome & Orientation Day

Holy Name of Jesus - St. Gregory 207 West 96th Street, New York, NY, United States

"Take Courage: Let's Light Up Our City!" Welcome & Orientation Day

This summer, Holy Name of Jesus – St. Gregory the Great Parish is excited to launch the first-ever TAKE COURAGE: Let’s Light Up Our City Youth Service Retreat!

📍 A Day Camp for Teens in the City! Running Tuesday, July 22 through Sunday, July 27, 10 AM – 7:30 PM.

Open to ages 13–17, this one-of-a-kind summer experience combines hands-on service with opportunities to grow in faith, leadership, and community.

Teens will serve those in need, explore the Church’s social teachings, reflect through prayer and liturgy, and discover NYC through cultural outings and interfaith encounters.

This retreat is inspired by the Teens4Unity camps happening around the world and by the words of Chiara Lubich (1920–2008), founder of the Focolare Movement, whose cause for beatification opened in 2015:

“Who would not want to see their own city, without the ‘gray’ of solitude and indifference, but instead illuminated by love, which brings people together and builds up brotherhood?”

    Registration: $100 (Scholarships Available)

    *Includes lunch and dinner

    Light of the World

LIGHT OF THE WORLD officially opens in theaters September 5, but join us on August 23rd for a free special advanced screening!

It’s 30 AD and everyone is expectantly awaiting the coming Messiah. While Jesus isn’t exactly what they imagined, there is something special about this man. Soon, John, James, Andrew, Peter, and others begin to follow Jesus on an unexpected adventure. This beautifully animated story of Jesus is told through the eyes of his beloved young friend, the Apostle John. From the beginning of Jesus’ ministry through his crucifixion and resurrection, LIGHT OF THE WORLD powerfully illustrates how Jesus of Nazareth changed the world forever and still changes lives today!
