Payroll Data Clerk

Overview/Purpose:

The Payroll Data Clerk will be responsible for entering, maintaining, and verifying payroll data across multiple systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with union contracts and non-union organizational policies. This role requires, but not limited to, proficiency in Lawson, ADP, and Paychex payroll platforms.

Reports to: Payroll Systems Manager

Work Location: 488 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10022

 

Responsibilities:

  • Input and validate payroll data in Lawson, and Paychex systems.
  • Maintain accurate employee records including hours worked, deductions, benefits, and leave balances.
  • Assist in payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate pay for unionized and non-unionized staff.
  • Generate and review reports for HR, Finance, and auditors.
  • Support compliance with collective bargaining agreements, Catholic school policies, and applicable labor laws.
  • Respond to staff inquiries regarding payroll data and corrections.
  • Collaborate with Payroll Coordinator and HR team to ensure smooth payroll operations.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Associate or Accounting degree
  • Minimum 3 to 5 Years relevant experience
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems
  • Strong data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently.
  • Knowledge of the payroll aspects of employee benefit policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to handle fast passed processing of payroll data entry and validation while always maintaining professionalism.
  • Collaborative team player with organizational skills.
  • Experience in non-profit or educational settings is a plus.

 

Compensation range for this position is: $27.47 – $32.97 per hour.
This position is considered full-time, non-exempt, and eligible for overtime.
