Leccionario and Misal Romano for the United States

The Leccionario de la Misa for the United States was approved by the Holy See in June of last year. This four volume text is currently being prepared for publication, and is expected to be delivered in February of 2015. The Leccionario may be used as early as February 18, 2015 (Ash Wednesday), and must be used by May 24, 2015 (Pentecost Sunday). After that date, no other Spanish version of the Leccionario will be permitted for liturgical use in the dioceses of the United States.

The Misal Romano, Tercera Edición for the United States is currently being reviewed by the Holy See. The USCCB expects a speedy confirmation. The US Misal will include several additional Mass formularies and Prefaces in the Common of the Blessed Virgin Mary . As well, an Appendix will contain Mass formularies of the patron saints of 21 Latin American countries, recognizing the immigrant populations of the Spanish-speaking faithful in the United States.

Rite of Marriage

The revised Order for Celebrating Matrimony was approved by the US bishops at their November 2013 meeting. The texts have been sent to the Holy See for recognitio. In preparation for the implementation of this revised text, the Bishops’ Committee on Divine Worship will be offering national workshops in early 2015.
