PRESS ADVISORY: CARDINAL DOLAN'S SCHEDULE FOR ASH WEDNESDAY

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, has the following public events on Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, which is observed this year on Wednesday, February 14

7:00 a.m. Mass at Saint Patrick's Cathedral (5th Avenue, between 50-51 Streets). The Cardinal will celebrate Mass, and, following his homily, he will receive ashes on his forehead, a sign of repentance, and distribute ashes to approximately 10 members of the congregation

7:30 a.m. Cardinal Dolan will hear confessions following the Mass

10:30 a.m. Cardinal Dolan will participate in the Pater Noster food distribution with the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal at Our Lady of Guadalupe Convent, 3537 Bainbridge Avenue in the Bronx. (Note: Pater Noster is Latin for "Our Father," also known as The Lord's Prayer.)n

Lent is the 40 day period of preparation to commemorate the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It is marked by prayer, repentance, and acts of charity.
