CARDINAL DOLAN TO MARK ASH WEDNESDAY, BEGINNING OF LENT, WITH FOOD DISTRIBUTION & MASS

(New York, NY) Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, will be the principal celebrant at the 12:00 noon Ash Wednesday Mass at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral on February 17, 2021.  Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent, the 40-day period of increased prayer,  penitence, fasting, and acts of charity in preparation for the celebration of the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus, culminating on Easter Sunday, April 4.  

The Cardinal will begin the day by helping to distribute food at 7:00 a.m. at the Saint Francis of Assisi Breadline, outside Saint Francis of Assisi Church at 131 West 31st Street (between Sixth and Seventh Avenues).  

Ashes will be distributed at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral following Mass at 7:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, and 5:30 p.m.
