Twitter had to shut down the accounts of people who posted hate messages to an African-American actress. A politician called for the execution of a presidential candidate. The shootings continue. The terrible heat frays everyone's temper
It's tempting to throw up one's hands in despair. However, my friend John Woods, the editor-in-chief of Catholic New York, has just published a very thoughtful reflection on just this topic. As he reminds us, we Christians are called to be people of hope, especially in dark times. We can do it. We have to. Yes, anger is contagious. But so is hope
