The Sheen Center Presents: Alfredo Rodriguez

The Sheen Center is New York’s leading Catholic center for artistic expression and intellectual engagement for all people of good will. A place where all are welcome, we exist to showcase the glory and diversity of God’s creation. Through compelling performance and conversation, we celebrate the creativity and imagination of artists and thought leaders in the pursuit of all that is good, true and beautiful.

Back at the Sheen by popular demand! Grammy nominated Cuban jazz pianist Alfredo Rodriguez creates an electrifying fusion of Latin, pop, timba, jazz, tango and funk that will transport you straight to the heart of Havana. Rodriguez’s music radiates positive energy and makes a celebratory artistic statement celebrating the diverse Latin community, showing the intersections between all these styles and cultures, and fostering connection and hope.

“That is always my goal,” he said. “I’ve always try to collaborate with artists from different parts of the world because I learn from those cultures that I am not a part of. For me, recording an album is something I enjoy so much because I get to bring people together.”

The Sheen Center Presents: Author Robert L. Dilenschneider in conversation with John P. Cahill

Join us for a celebration of communication expert and esteemed leadership coach Robert L. Dilenschneider’s powerful new book, Character: Life Lessons in Courage, Integrity, and Leadership. John P. Cahill, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of New York, will lead an engaging conversation with this prolific author and thinker about the foundations of successful leadership and the cultivation character, courage, and integrity within ourselves.

    About the Book:
Character offers a powerful examination of how this vital trait shaped the lives of some of history’s most iconic figures. Drawing on his expertise as a leadership advisor, Dilenschneider explores the lives of 31 influential individuals across various fields, from politics and science to religion, whose character-driven leadership left an indelible mark on the world. In these inspiring portraits, Dilenschneider uncovers the qualities of character that helped these leaders overcome adversity, create lasting change, and shape the future. How did Nelson Mandela’s resilience guide him through hardship? What can we learn from Florence Nightingale and Edith Cavell’s courage in the face of war? How did Walt Disney’s tenacity build an entertainment empire? And how did John McCain’s loyalty and dedication to his fellow soldiers shape his leadership philosophy?

Through these stories and others, Dilenschneider shows how Character unites their legacies and provides a blueprint for future generations. This book offers a wealth of insights for the young leaders, innovators, and influencers of tomorrow, offering direction and mentorship from the wisdom of those who have led with integrity, courage, and purpose.

  • In Our Age: Celebrating 60 Years of Interfaith Dialogue

Sheen Center - Loreto Theater 18 Bleecker St,, New York, United States

In Our Age: Celebrating 60 Years of Interfaith Dialogue

The fall of 2025 will mark the 60th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council’s document, Nostra Aetate (“In Our Age”), on the Church’s relations with Jews, Muslims, and those of other religions. Scholars suggest that Nostra Aetate ushered in a “Copernican revolution” in the way the Church relates to non-Catholics. Many of the examples of interreligious collaboration that we take for granted in 2025 were unthinkable not so long ago, and this 60th anniversary of that watershed moment in the life of the Catholic Church should be an opportunity for reflection on the past and preparation for the future. To mark this anniversary, and to facilitate this reflection on the past and preparation for the future, the Sheen Center, in collaboration with in collaboration with the Archdiocese of New York, Peace Islands Institute New York, and Park Avenue Synagogue will present an interreligious panel discussion representing the Catholic, Muslim, and Jewish traditions, bookended by musical interludes from Sufi musicians and a Jewish cantor.

The core of the event will be a moderated discussion between three distingushed panelists:

    • Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York and tireless champion of interreligious collaboration
    • Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove, Senior Rabbi of Park Avenue Synagogue and a leading voice for the Conservative Jewish Movement and American Jewry
    • Dr. Zeki Saritoprak, a professor of Islamic Studies at John Carroll University (notably, a Catholic institution) and a longtime member of the national Muslim-Catholic dialogue
    • Emmy Award-winning actress Patricia Heaton, co-founder of the October 7 Coalition, will serve as the moderator for the discussion
