ASSOCIATION OF CATHOLIC SCHOOLS REACHES TENTATIVE AGREEMENT WITH
THE FEDERATION OF CATHOLIC TEACHERS
 
On Monday, October 3rd, the Association of Catholic Schools (ACS) reached a tentative agreement with the Federation of Catholic Teachers (FCT) on a new three-year contract.  The agreement must be ratified by the union membership and by the ACS Board of Directors.

The ACS represents 174 Catholic parish-based elementary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of New York, educating more than 50,000 students each year.

“We are grateful for the good faith negotiations by union leadership that contributed to this process, and for the continued dedication of our teachers to their students throughout the year,” said Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan, Archbishop of New York.

Major economic details are as follows:
 
General wage increases of:
1\% for 2011-12
1\% for 2012-13
2\% for 2013-14
 
As previously noted, these increases are in addition to the contractually imbedded increases of approximately 2.7\% for the vast majority of teachers.
 
Health Insurance
Teachers’ contributions to the medical plan will increase as follows:
2011-2012  – Teachers will contribute 9.5\% of the premium cost.
2012-2013  – Teachers will contribute 10\% of the premium cost.
2013- 2014 – Teachers will contribute 10\% of the premium cost.
 
More details will follow once both sides have ratified the agreement.
