Respect Life Office | Urgent: Physician-Assisted Suicide Legislation Looming

Proponents of doctor-assisted suicide are making a full court press to legalize this deadly practice here in New York State this legislative session. We have seen the devastating effects of so-called “Medical Aid in Dying” in other states and countries, and we must do all we can to educate our parishioners about the dangers of this serious threat to human life.

We have created a postcard, printable flyer (in English and Spanish) and bulletin blurb detailing some of the dangers and real-life stories of what happens when doctors stop trying to prevent suicide and start assisting suicide. We encourage you to make copies available to your parishioners and urge them to contact their legislators to express their opposition to the proposed legislation.

The New York State Catholic Conference has put out an action alert which makes it easy to contact your legislator and we have provided a call script to use when making calls.

View the action alert on the New York State Catholic Conference Action Center.

Respect Life Office | Chemical Abortion Coming to Your Local Pharmacy

In January, the FDA announced a new policy that permits women to obtain abortion drugs from any local pharmacy. CVS, Walgreens (Duane Reade), and Rite-Aid, the dominant pharmacy chains, have already announced that they will begin to dispense abortion drugs.

Here is a fact sheet with more information about the dangers of chemical abortion and some information on how to protest this action. We have also included a sample letter that you can use to approach your local pharmacist to encourage them not to participate in this egregious program.
