Institutional Commodities Services (ICS): Updates from ICS

As we begin to prepare for Lent in a few weeks, ICS wants to alert you to important dates for placing and modifying your palm for this holy season. It is essential that you place your orders early to avoid supply chain delays. The news is filled with disheartening delivery driver shortages. We have been working with our palm supplier, Palm Gardens, to ensure we have your high-quality fresh palm delivered in the same timely manner you have come to trust from ICS.

ICS will order more than 1 million palm strips this year. When you order your palm early, it will be included in our huge bulk order and will qualify ICS for a dedicated refrigerated truckload delivered directly from the supplier to UPS. UPS will then distribute palms to your parish during the week of April 3. PLEASE place your palm orders by our deadline of March 4. You can modify them until March 11.
Bottom line, please click here to order as soon as possible. We can save you money, time and headaches.

Schools: Updates from the Department of Education

Did you hear the news? Everyone’s talking about Catholic schools! Stay current on the latest features from New York Post, National Catholic Register, New York Family, Catholic New York, and more in this shareable “Good News” Report crafted by the Office of Communications and Public Relations.  For our most recent coverage from print publications, check out “Catholic Ed. Surges” from the Daily News.

In coordination with Our Lady Star of the Sea, the Office of Communications and Public Relations released a media advisory attracting broadcast reporters from WPIX, CBS, and Telemundo to a “Back the Blue” school event honoring NYPD officers. The tribute was later recapped on Staten Island Advance and CBS.

In observance of Catholic Schools Week, the Office of Communications and Public Relations supported our schools through internal initiatives. Promotional efforts included a commemorative video message featuring Superintendent of Schools Mr. Michael J. Deegan, a letter of support and appreciation to Catholic school teachers, and a Teacher Appreciation Raffle sponsored by the Inner-City Scholarship Fund.

Throughout Black History Month, the Office of Communications and Public Relations will be curating BHM-related photos and initiatives for social media posting and/or possible promotion in the media. The month will be wrapped up with a retrospective honoring Black heritage and culture in our schools and Church.
