Advent and Lent Nights of Mercy | Adult Faith Formation Office

We thank you for all your work and effort to bring a renewed love for the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. We are hearing many powerful testimonies of the ways people are having a profound encounter through all of your work! If you have events happening at your parish that you would like to share, please send the information to [email protected]. You can visit our website for more details on upcoming events, resources, and an opportunity for people to share their testimony.

If you are thinking of hosting a Eucharistic encounter during Lent and/or any other time in the liturgical calendar, consider hosting a Night of Mercy or something similar. Attached are documents, in English and Spanish, with details on how to plan and run it. Please reach out to us at [email protected] if you would like any support.

Matching Gift Program | Development Office

As we approach the end of the 2022giving season, the Development Office wants to remind pastors that this is a good time to promote the benefits of matching gift programs as an easy way for parishioners to double their year-end contributions and increase their giving to your parish or to the Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal.

To be eligible for a matching gift program, most employers require the recipient organization be an approved 501(c)(3) non-profit entity. Employees must complete an employer form requesting that a matching gift be made to a specified organization. If the recipient organization qualifies as an approved non-profit, this will usually suffice for employer verification. Parishioners can visit the Appeal website at: https://cardinalsappeal.org/employer-matching-gifts to confirm if their employer offers an employee matching gift program.

Protection of Children | The Chancellery of the Archdiocese of New York

The Archdiocese of New York is committed to doing all that it can to protect children and young people from sexual abuse. As part of that effort, we periodically write to theCatholic community to advise them about whom they may contact and what steps they can take if they have suffered abuse by someone representing theCatholic church.Include this announcement in both English and Spanish in your Sunday bulletin. Its wording was approved by the presbyteral council. If your parish uses another language, i.e., Chinese, French, German, Italian or others, I am asking that you have it correctly translated and send a copy of your bulletin with these translations to the office of the vicar general. Additionally, publish this announcement every May, September, and January.
