Institutional Commodities Services (ICS): January 2021 Updates
ICS has everything you need for Lenten observances, Easter celebrations and Covid safety. Please place orders early to avoid disappointment because supplies may be limited by our vendors. The attached brochures include details on ordering ashes, palms, charcoal and incense, candles, altar bread and wine, flowers, as well as personal protective equipment, cleaners and sanitizers.
Please note these important deadlines to make, adjust or cancel Lenten and Easter orders:
- Ashes – Order by Feb 1. Cancel or modify order by February 5;
- Palms – Order by February 26. Cancel or modify order until noon March 4;
- Palm crosses – Order by February 12. Cancel or modify order until noon February 16;
- Flowers – Order by March 12. Cancel or modify order until noon March 19.

Superintendent of Schools Michael J. Deegan wishes the students in the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of New York a “Merry Christmas” with a heartfelt video message.
The First Snow Day for Catholic Students in the Archdiocese of New York! New York’s first big snow storm began on Dec. 16 prompting the first official snow day on Dec. 17th. Public schools closed their buildings but continued to hold Zoom classes, but Superintendent Michael J. Deegan wanted to make sure students and teachers, who have been working so hard this year, could have some fun in the snow.
Archdiocese of New York Expands COVID Response Team: Testing and vaccine coordinator hired to oversee operations across schools. Kevin F. Thompson to streamline current COVID testing process and establish future vaccine-related measures.
Cardinal Dolan releases statement on efforts in Congress to support schools during COVID-19 Pandemic: On Dec. 16, His Eminence Cardinal Dolan urged Congress to treat Catholic school students equally to public school students in regards to providing COVID-19 Pandemic relief funds.
