Adult Faith Formation: Lenten Pamphlets

It is that time again, when you will be receiving men, women, and children for ashes, and we begin our penitential season of Lent. In addition to the various small group resources and programming I suggested last month. I would like to also suggest these new Lenten pamphlets from The Word Among Us that feature key reflective questions such as:

Adult Faith Formation: Adult Confirmation Program

The archdiocesan Adult Confirmation Program is designed for practicing adult (18+) Catholics seeking the sacrament of Confirmation, who have been baptized, received their first Holy Communion and been educated in the Catholic faith through Catholic Schools or Catholic religious education programs.

Development: Renew + Rebuild Pledge Redemption

To finish out 2019, the Renew + Rebuild campaign reached $247M, which is 124% of our $200M goal. We have asked 2 colleagues to focus on in person meetings with pastors to create individualized pledge redemption plans in parishes that struggle with a 50% or more redemption rate.

Family Life: Longest Married Couple

Each year in connection with World Marriage Day (Feb 9th, 2020), the Archdiocese honors those Catholic couples (sacramentally married in the Church for 65 years or more) who exemplify what is good about the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. This year 30 couples were nominated in the Longest Married Couple Search. All received a commemorative certificate signed by His Eminence.

The winners in 2020 are Josie and Stanley Maciocha from Transfiguration Parish, Tarrytown, married 77 years.

Family Life: Bereavement Facilitator Trainings

The Family Life Office will be conducting Bereavement facilitator trainings for
parish support groups. Trainings will focus on concepts of grief and loss along
with practical group dynamics, spiritual support and emotional healing in a
community setting.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Lectors, Ushers and Parish Musicians are invited to come together to reflect on the meaning of the Easter Triduum and discover its deep meaning for their lives, their ministry and their parish communities.
