Development: Will Seminars

The Planned Giving Office recently sent out a newsletter that encourages parishioners to express their faith through their estate planning. We believe fully that a will is more than just a legal document; it is an expression of what that person most believed and what they felt was most important in their lifetime.

Family Life: World Marriage Day 2020

Plans for World Marriage Day 2020 are underway, so the search begins for the longest married couple in the Archdiocese of New York. This annual search honors the vocation of marriage and family life. Please support this initiative by placing the announcements, available below in English and Spanish, in your parish bulletin as often as space permits.

Liturgy: New Online Training and Certification for Lectors

The Liturgy Office is pleased to announce its new online certification program for lectors. The program is convenient and interactive and includes an instructional video, a short quiz and opportunities for reflection and questions. This free course is offered in both English and Spanish and may be accessed from the Liturgy Office webpage and at nyliturgy.teachable.com.

Liturgy: Parish Music Survey

The archdiocesan Commission on Sacred Music has written a parish music program survey. The last one was sent five years ago, and since then, much has changed in the life of our parishes. The results of that survey set the stage for music workshops and programs that were introduced from that time. The Commission would like to “take the pulse” of our parish music programs to see where things stand and how the Liturgy Office might be of service in this area.

Pastors or parish music directors are kindly asked to complete this survey. If you have any questions, please contact Father Matthew Ernest at [email protected]

Sheen Center: The Gospel of John

This December, the Sheen Center brings The Gospel of John to the Black Box Theater Stage. Be inspired by the light and hope of this unique theatrical experience that invites audiences of all walks of life to experience the Mystery of the Incarnation in an unexpected context. True to the text and reverently performed in an abbreviated format by acclaimed Broadway actor Ken Jennings, this play brings the Gospel to life through the deeply personal gaze of the beloved disciple.

Youth Faith Formation: Who Do You Say I Am?

Who Do You Say I Am? Conversations on youth, culture, saints and the answer that is Christ — featuring His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan on January 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Seminary. Click here to register.

The Office of Youth Ministry is inviting all adults involved in youth ministry to join us as we explore Christ’s question to the apostles and St. Peter’s response, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” We’ll discuss how we can use this exchange as a paradigm for inviting teens to engage in conversation about the Church. We’ll have time with Cardinal Dolan who will unpack the themes and motivation behind his new book and an opportunity for Q&A with him.
