Description/Details:Lion will be the featured film for October in the 2017-2018 International Film Festival sponsored by the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers. It will be shown Friday, October 20, 7:30 p.m. at Maryknoll, 55 Ryder Road in Ossining. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
Lion is a 2016 film co-produced by Australia, The United States and the United Kingdom from director Garth Davis. The film centers around a five-year-old Indian boy who gets lost on the streets of Calcutta. He gets adopted by an Australian family and 25 years later tries to find his lost family.
The film festival provides nine monthly offerings on Friday evenings from September to May. The current series, Life through Death: The Old Verities & Truths of the Human Heart, includes an introduction by a Maryknoll missioner and a brief discussion after the screening.
