Holy Week Retreat at Shalom
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We warmly invite you to participate in the Holy Week retreat at the Shalom Catholic Community in Williamsburg. This sacred time offers us an opportunity to deepen our faith and embrace the transformative power of God through the death and resurrection of His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
As we approach this profound season, we recall the words of the Apostle Paul: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Holy Week stands as the pinnacle of our faith, marked by the most solemn liturgies and an abundance of grace. The Holy Week retreat is a precious opportunity to immerse ourselves in the most sacred of all mysteries: Christ dies and resurrects to save us, to give us life!
Pope Francis encourages us to approach this time with renewed hope and courage. In his recent message, he urged the faithful “to instill hope and strive for courage to improve the world,” emphasizing that even in uncertain times, love and hope enable a positive outlook for the future.

Mass of the Last supper – 7:00 pm. Blessed Sacrament at the altar of repose until Midnight.
April 18th Good Friday
9:30 am – Morning prayer
10:15 am – Talk
11:00 am – Silent meditation
12:00 pm – Break
3:00 pm – Way of the Cross with chants, testimonies and meditations
6:15 pm – Liturgy of the Passion of the Lord
8:00 pm – Movie: ‘The Passion of the Christ’
April 19th Holy Saturday
9:30 am – Morning Prayer
10:15 am – Talk
11:00 am – Silent meditation
12:00 pm – Marian prayerful celebration (The Seven sorrows of Mary)
1:00 pm – Break
8:00 pm – Easter Vigil
– Hot chocolate/sweets’ party after the Vigil
April 20th Easter Sunday
12:15 pm – Easter Mass
1:30 pm – Procession with the Risen Lord on the streets of Williamsburg
2:00 pm – Easter Potluck at the Shalom Park
