There will be a concert in honor of the memory of Edward Michael Cardinal Egan, ninth Archbishop of New York, tomorrow, Thursday, April 6, 2017 beginning at 6:30pm at the main altar of St. Patrick's Cathedral. The concert is titled, "In the Holiness of Truth," in keeping with the motto chosen by Cardinal Egan when he first became a bishop in 1985
The concert will be preceded by evening prayer led by Monsignor Robert T. Ritchie, Rector of St. Patrick's Cathedral. The concert will feature St. Patrick's Cathedral Choir, led by Dr. Jennifer Pascual, as well as the following performers from the Metropolitan Opera: Matthew Polenzani, Stephen Costello, Angela Meade, Janai Brugger.
Cardinal Egan was born on April 2, 1932 and served the Archdiocese of New York as Archbishop for nine years, from 2000 to 2009. He was an auxiliary bishop of New York from 1985 to 1988; and also served as bishop of Bridgeport, Connecticut from 1988 to 2000. Cardinal Egan died on March 5, 2015
