CARDINAL DOLAN WILL VISIT THREE SHRINES TO PRAY FOR HEALING AND PROTECTION IN THIS TIME OF CRISIS

(New York, NY) Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, will visit three shrines this weekend to engage in private prayer for healing and protection in the COVID-19 pandemic that is currently plaguing our city, state, nation, and world.

On Saturday, March 21, 2020 the Cardinal will visit two shrines dedicated to the Virgin Mary.  At approximately 10:00 a.m. he will visit the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, located at 70 Mount Carmel Drive in Middletown, New York, followed by an 11:30 a.m.  visit to the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, located at 174 Filors Lane, Stony Point, New York.

On Sunday, March 22, the Cardinal will visit the Saint Frances Cabrini Shrine, located at 701 Fort Washington Avenue in Manhattan.  Saint Frances Cabrini was an Italian immigrant to the United States, who founded Institute of Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart, and established numerous charities, hospitals, schools, and orphanages throughout the country, with a special solicitude for the sick.  She was the first American citizen to be canonized a saint.

At each shrine, the Cardinal will pray for all those who are sick with the virus, for the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who are tending to the ill, for all our leaders, and for all who are working to find a vaccine and a cure.  He will also remember those who are suffering economically as a result of the current global economic slowdown, particularly those who have been laid-off or furloughed.
