  • National Night of Prayer for Life

National Night of Prayer for Life

It was on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (then celebrated on Dec 9) that Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the unborn and of the Americas, first appeared to St. Juan Diego. The National Night of Prayer for Life bridges these two feasts to honor Our Blessed Mother and to pray for the Lord’s mercy and restore life, liberty, faith and peace.

We ask each parish to join in praying on this holy occasion.

We understand that not every parish is equipped to host prayer during those late hours, thus you may modify your prayer schedule to be united in prayer at a time that works best for your parish that evening.

We want to help you advertise your National Night of Prayer for Life event.

Please visit here for more information.

  • Advent Evening of Recollection

Regina Coeli Church 2 Harvey Street, Hyde Park, NY, United States

    Advent Evening of Recollection

Please join us for an Advent Evening of Recollection by author Ruth D. Nelson, who will discuss her book Our Lady of the World’s Fair: Bringing Michelangelo’s Pieta to Queens in 1964 (Cornell University Press, 2024).

Our Lady of the World’s Fair: Bringing Michelangelo’s Pieta to Queens in 1964 by Ruth D. Nelson
    Thursday, December 11, 2025
    7:00 pm

Ms. Nelson recounts the magnificent story of the unprecedented and risky transportation of the Pieta from Saint Peter’s Basilica to Flushing Meadows Park on the Italian liner Cristoforo Colombo. Spurred on by different motivations, the efforts of New York City’s master builder, Robert Moses and Cardinal Francis Spellman of the Archdiocese of New York to bring the Pieta to New York contributed to the huge success of the World’s Fair (1964-1965) and making the Vatican Pavilion the ultimate destination for fairgoers.

There is a spiritual dimension to Our Lady of the World’s Fair which connects this book in a very unique way to Regina Coeli Church.  For this reason, this is more than just a book presentation but also a time of prayer and reflection.  The evening will close with refreshments and an opportunity to meet Ms. Nelson.

Alpha Course at Church of the Epiphany

Church of the Epiphany 375 2nd Ave, New York, NY, United States

Alpha Course at Church of the Epiphany

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that allow you to explore the Christian faith, ask questions and share your point of view in a safe and friendly environment.
    Sessions include:

Is there more to life than this?
Who is Jesus? Why did he die?
    How can we have faith?
Why and how do I read the bible?
    What about the church?
    How does it work?

Each session includes food, a short video and a discussion at the end where you can share your thoughts. At any point, if you think Alpha isn’t for you, that’s not a problem. There’s no pressure and no charge.

The course runs for 12 weeks. And there is a wonderful 24 hour offsite retreat that involves a hike, a Mass, delicious dinners, and the visit of the Holy Spirit! Come to the first one and see if it’s for you.

This is a great place to invite a friend who may be curious about your Catholic faith. The Alpha course has proven to be an effective tool for awakening faith in people who are on the fringe of parish life, faithful Catholics and those outside the faith.
