Busy Person’s Retreat

WHAT IS A “BUSY PERSON’S RETREAT”?

A “Busy Person’s Retreat” is a time of focused prayer and companion journeying. This Online Busy Person’s Retreat gives the participant an opportunity to make a retreat in the midst of a daily, busy routine of life, using a daily suggested scripture passage, some written reflections and other optional resources (i.e. videos, audio scriptures, and messages to one of our spiritual companions). This retreat will help you learn how to make time for prayer and meditation even in the midst of a regular busy schedule.

BUT I WORK EVERY DAY AND I’M JUST TOO BUSY, SO I GUESS THIS IS NOT FOR ME?

This is definitely for you!! That’s why it is called a “Busy Person’s Retreat”! It is meant to be flexible and to flexibly fit into a busy person’s schedule – a person who is busy, yet still recognizes the importance of spending some time with The Lord. You’re busy? Then this is just for you…check it out; give it a try!!

HOW DOES THIS RETREAT WORK?

A Busy Person’s Retreat has two components:

  • Daily Prayer Time: Each day includes approx. 30 minutes of scripture reading & personal prayer (at a time chosen by the individual retreatant), using the materials provided each day (e.g. short scripture passage or audio scripture passage, video reflection and/or written reflection).
  • Spiritual Journeying/Personal Reflection: Each day (for an additional 15-30 minutes), some additional personal prayer & reflection time is suggested; as well as an opportunity to offer prayer intentions and/or questions that come from your daily readings, listening & reflection, with one of our spiritual companions (retreat team members) as requested.

Each day you will have materials to pray over & choose from: Scripture passages, meditations, reflection questions, video-audio clips, music videos or other exercises and media. Look over your prayer materials/options each morning before you formally begin your prayer period—either during the day or the evening or a combination of times. This preparation allows you to sort through any questions or confusion you might have about the prayer materials, thus helping you to enter into this prayer period more smoothly & deliberately. Spiritual Companions will be available to hear/read your written questions, prayer intentions or reflections on retreat materials, if requested.
