Institute of Religious Studies

The Institute

The Institute of Religious Studies is a graduate theological program of St. Joseph's Seminary open to qualified laity, religious, and clergy. The Institute offers graduate-level courses in Sacred Scripture, Dogma, Liturgy and Moral and Catholic Theology, faithful to the Magisterium, to serve as preparatory or ongoing formation for those actively involved in the work of the Church or as doctrinal formation for the laity who wish to deepen their knowledge of the Faith through systematic study.

Courses are offered primarily on the campus of the Seminary and at two other centers: Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie (Dutchess County)  and the Cardinal Cooke Catholic Center, 1011 First Avenue in Manhattan.

The Institute has two programs of study: the Master of Arts  in Religious Studies and the Post-Master's Certificate in Religious Studies. Auditors and non-degree students are welcome.
