LAUNCH OF THE NEW SEASON IN MUSIC AT THE SHEEN CENTER FOR THOUGHT & CULTURE

The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture launches its 2017 Music Season with the Broadway Inspirational Voices Choir series tonight at 7:30 p.m . in the Loreto Theater. The series is designed to highlight the talent of the choirs' individual members, lending each performance with the range, depth, and intimacy envisioned by Grammy Award-winning and Tony-nominated director and series host, Michael Elroy. Monday night's debut performance will feature classic jazz standards by the Lion King's Marva Hicks and Hairspray's Clarke Thorell. The series will return the following Monday, January 30 at 7:30 p.m. with an evening of inspirational music performances by Lisa Lynne Mathis and Chris Dilley. The Broadway Inspirational Voices Choir series resumes in May 2017 with Gospel, Folk, and Broadway favorites, as well as a final performance by the entire choir on May 22

The Sheen Center will welcome Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Kirk Whalum and his all-star band for two performances of his new release #LOVECOVERS on Friday, February 10, and Saturday, February 11 at 7:30 p.m. These performances kick off the Jazz on Bleecker Street series, which will also showcase innovative performances by Kenny Werner and Wadada Leo Smith, as well as Roger Kellaway's "The Paul McCartney Project" on March 11 and 23, respectively. Music at the Sheen Center in March continues with two-time Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris and His Accomplices as part of the Convergence—Indie Artists series on Thursday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. Andrea Burns, the star of the Broadway hits, On Your Feet! and In the Heights, will take the stage on Monday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m. with an invigorating performance of Latin fusion and Broadway classics in "Latin Broadway Party!
