Interfaith Conference Addressing the Crisis for Christians in the Middle East

Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Nina Shea, General Raymond Odierno, and Ambassador Ronald Lauder will be among the participants at a conference addressing the existential threat currently facing Christians in the Middle East at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 3:45p.m. A preeminent group of scholars, civic officials, religious leaders, and representatives of humanitarian organizations will gather for what will be the first in a series of interfaith discussions intended to stem the tide of genocide in the Middle East through informed dialogue and community engagement

The symposium will consist of two panel discussions, each led by Princeton University Professors Michael Reynolds and Jack Tannous, and two speakers, General Raymond Odierno, Retired 38th Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, and Ambassador Ronald Lauder, President of the World Jewish Congress. The panels are designed to identify the root causes and measures available to counteract the systematic eradication of Christian communities in the Middle East by terrorists groups in the region. The panels will also include Monsignor John E. Kozar, President of the Catholic Near East Welfare Association; Robert Nicholson of the Philos Project; Juliana Taimoorazy of the Iraqi Christian Relief Council, among others. Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, will deliver the closing remarks. The Cardinal visited and celebrated Mass with displaced Christians in Iraqi Kurdistan this past spring.
