Community Engagement Coordinator
Full-time Position in Staten Island
This is a unique opportunity for someone interested in helping launch a new initiative focused on health literacy and volunteer engagement. The candidate will work with community organizations and residents of all ages in Staten Island.
Coordinates the day-to-day operations of a Staten Island based health literacy initiative focused on faith-based organizations and a TimeBank, a reciprocal volunteer exchange. Establishes partnerships with faith-based and other community-based organizations. Plans and executes health-related activities/events at multiple sites within the community. Identifies individuals in need of patient navigation and facilitates referrals. Recruits, screens, orients, matches and engages individual and organizational TimeBank members.
Some evening and weekend work required.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in community organizing or program coordination. Computer proficiency required. Ability to work independently, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability and creativity required. Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills required. Understanding the need for building and nurturing community relationships is vital. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills required. Must be able to work independently and as a team player and be results oriented. Knowledge of Staten Island preferred.
Speak, read, write, translate English/Spanish
Associate’s degree required.
