Adult Faith Formation: Formed Evaluation

As you know, the archdiocese has been working with the Augustine Institute to provide FORMED to parishes. With the help of a generous benefactor, we have provided FORMED access to many parishes for the last three years.

Thank you to all making good use of this tool in their ministries. Today we invite you to help evaluate the last three years of subscription, with the hope of making greater use of this ever-growing platform of faith-enriching content.

Family Life: Recovery Sunday

Recovery Sunday is a national day of prayer for those suffering from addictions – which statistics tell us is more than 20 million Americans. Recovery Sunday is a reminder of the plight of those dealing with addiction and recovery and those who love and support them. Most importantly, the observance is a powerful vehicle for prayer for families and communities in need.

Pastors:  Please consider designating a weekend in September as Recovery Sunday in your parish. The letter linked to below includes suggested bulletin announcements, prayers of the faithful and ideas for activities.

Youth Faith Formation: Models for Parish Religious Education

In an ever-changing environment, we want to help parishes effectively form young people and their families for discipleship. Catechesis is “the totality of the Church’s effort to make disciples” (CCC 4), and religious education is a critical component. Effective religious education focuses on the cognitive (head), affective (heart) and behaviors (hands); evangelizes, teaches and forms disciples. We hope that the multiple models presented in this booklet will provide the tools and flexibility to design programs that respond to the realities of our communities.

Youth Faith Formation: New York Catholic Youth Day

Registration is NOW OPEN! There will be hundreds of teens in attendance at this inspiring annual event that includes service, music, speakers, Mass and time to be with friends and make new ones.

It’s also a wonderful opportunity to extend the work pastors and parish staff do each week to open the hearts and minds of our teens to God’s love.

This year’s theme – Speak Up! – is all about using your voice for good. First, to speak up towards God! Pray to Him, ask Him for help, thank Him, challenge Him – He’s there for you no matter what. And then, speak up for injustice.

Your relationships with families in your community are so valuable. Can you help us connect to teens in your parish?
