Guidelines for Parishes and Catholic Organizations
The NYS Catholic Conference has updated its “Pastors, Parishes, & Political Responsibility" guidelines, which offers guidance on acceptable and unacceptable political activity by parishes and Church organizations. The guidelines, which the Conference publishes every four years, are based on recommendations by the Office of General Counsel of the USCCB.
As stated in the document, “Individual bishops may have issued additional guidelines beyond what is listed below. The statewide guidelines do not supersede such local guidelines. We urge pastors to consult with their chancellor for additional guidance.”
